HELLO!
First, thank you so much for choosing me to photograph your family. Whether you're a returning client or a new face, I just can't tell you how thankful I am to have this opportunity.
My style of photography is a little bit of a blend. I enjoy capturing the more traditional portraits, but the genuine moments that tell the story of your family are what truly have my heart. We will definitely get those smiling. Everyone looking at the camera in the beginning, and as your session progresses, we will get more candid moments and cinematic images.
YOUR SESSION
Here is a little rundown of what to expect from your experience. As always, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.
KIDS
This is your one hour vacation from having to parent. It's my job to wrangle your kiddos, so don't worry if they're being wild. I will capture those genuine smiles and authentic moments. The best images come from happy, playful kids. The more they play, the better cuddling photos we get at the end when they are tired.
MOM AND DAD
I know a photo session is probably not Dad's first choice of how to spend an evening, but I promise he will have more fun than he expects. Mom, once you're at the session, this is your chance to relax and feel beautiful. Capturing the little details of motherhood is my favorite, so just be yourself.
THE DAY OF
Depending on when your session is scheduled, it may throw everyone off of their schedule a bit. Try to make sure no one arrives hungry. If you need to bring a snack for little ones, try to stick to small, clean snacks if possible. Cheerios and Goldfish are perfect. Also, there will most likely not be a restroom nearby, so don't forget a potty break before you leave home.
STYLE
COORDINATE OUTFITS
Now this doesn’t mean everyone has to 100% match with khaki pants or jeans and a white shirt! You want to complement each other’s outfits by choosing colors that work well together. I find that if everyone is wearing the same clothing, people will all tend to blend in together and there won’t be too much pop and life to the images. Coordinate VS. Matching…let’s not get cheesy!
COLORS
Colors are everywhere around us and bring things to life…why not bring your images to life as well! Again, be sure the colors you use coordinate with each other and you don’t just end up looking like one big rainbow family! When picking patterns, choose smaller ones that won’t distract attention away from the main subject(s). Use patterns sparingly…if one person is wearing a print, try to avoid putting someone else in a competing pattern. When thinking about texture, choose different ones that will give photos some interest such as lace, corduroy, denim, etc. Avoid large logo’s, emblems and graphics like “GAP” and “Old Navy” because again, these will typically distract attention away from the subject. We want your faces and emotion to show, not promote the clothing company you purchased from!
SEE YOU SOON!
If you can, try to arrive to your session a few minutes early. It's nice to have some time to chat and let the kids warm up to me before we jump right in. I will bring music, bug spray, blankets, and everything else that we will need. At the end of every session, I will offer the kids a treat from my prize basket, but it's also nice for you to have a bribe in mind. A lot of my families grab ice cream after their session, and that really helps the kids stay motivated.
After your session, I will post your sneak peeks on Facebook in 3-4 days, and your gallery will be
delivered in 2-3 weeks.
